David joined OMAI in 2023 and is responsible for environmental, social and governance (ESG) compliance and performance throughout the transaction, operation and exit phases of the asset lifecycle. David is a climate specialist and focusses specifically on strategic and operational issues relating to climate mitigation and adaptation across the OMAI portfolio.

Prior to joining OMAI, David was a consultant with TEPM, an engineering company working in process efficiency and decarbonisation and serving the automotive, FMCG and manufacturing sectors. He also acted as an independent technical advisor to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), assisting with the development of carbon budget regulations.

David has 18 years’ experience in decarbonisation, energy efficiency, climate change and climate finance advisory and has worked with companies in the mining, cement, automotive, manufacturing, FMCG and finance sectors. He has extensive experience in corporate sustainability, most specifically environmental performance assurance and environmental due diligence.

He has completed project work in Ghana, Mali, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Germany, Portugal and the United States.

David holds Honours in Environmental and Geographical Science with a specialisation in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Cape Town.
