Capabilities
As on-the-ground investors, our 81 investment professionals in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lagos, Nairobi and Abidjan manage 23 active funds investing in over 212 portfolio companies.
We develop and manage private equity infrastructure funds designed to invest in long-term institutional equity in African infrastructure projects, including renewable energy, baseload power generation, toll roads, ports, digital infrastructure and PPP assets.

We actively manage private equity investments across South Africa, investing in high-quality, unlisted business with significant growth potential and attractive characteristics.

We aim to deliver commercially viable returns in investments that deliver large-scale impact which benefit middle and lower-income communities, particularly in affordable housing and quality education.

We focus on proprietary manager selection to deliver a diverse range of private equity exposure to third party primary funds, co-investments and secondary market opportunities in North America, Europe and selected emerging markets.

We are one of South Africa’s most established alternatives fund managers investing in mezzanine debt, preference shares, and quasi equity.

Our commitment to responsible investment is central to our objectives and to fulfilling our fiduciary duties towards our shareholders and beneficiaries. We believe that embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) thinking into our investment decision-making is critical if we want to create positive futures and sustainable, superior, risk-adjusted returns for our clients. We have adopted an ESG and Impact Management Framework to achieve our vision of continual improvement in ESG performance.
Sustainability mindset
We adopt an integrated approach to sustainability, applying an equal focus on risk management and positive impact outcomes. We seek to deeply understand the trade-offs posed by investments, being thoughtful in our investment decisions, purposefully acting to be part of the solution in facing global environmental, social and governance challenges.
